Skill Development Programes
The Centre will continue its efforts to act as a focus for research in SDIs and Land Administration and relation between them by building on ongoing research relationships and creating new research links through extended collaboration with other Departments across the Faculty and the University and also other universities, research institutes and organisations both nationally and internationally. The Centre aims to achieve this through the development of a strong internationally recognized Research Program, world-class Postgraduate Training Program, and a Visiting Scientists Program.
Research Program:
- Be world class scholars in SDIs and Land Administration.
- Encourage collaborative research projects with State and Federal governments in Australia, the private sector and leading international universities and agencies such as the United Nations and the World Bank.
- Secure national competitive grants through the development of cross-disciplinary and team-based research expertise with the other departments and faculties across the University.
- Support up to ten full-time researchers.
- Strengthen the Universitys participation in the formation of public policy and community discussion in matters related to SDIs and Land Administration as key components of the emerging information society.
- To disseminate research findings through internationally recognized academic publications, seminars and conferences.
Postgraduate Training Program:
- The Centre is a focus for attracting world class postgraduates wishing to study in SDI, Land Administration and other related research areas.
- Provide specialized supervisory expertise for both Masters and PhD students.
- Provide a framework to enable interaction with academic staff across all areas within the Department of Geomatics and the wider university working in areas related to Spatial Data Infrastructures and Land Administration.
- Develop and enhance the knowledge base and research capabilities in Spatial Data Infrastructures and Land Administration through research training and specific initiatives such as workshops, symposia and conferences.
Visiting Scientists Program:
- Facilitate research and teaching interchanges among Australian and international scholars who work in SDIs and Land Administration through a visiting scholars.
- To increase opportunities to involve international visiting scholars in specific initiatives such as workshops, conferences and seminars.
- Facilitate collaborative links between the Centre and institutions visiting scholars regarding research and postgraduate training.
